On the Trapper’s Trail, the Great Journey

Day one-
Fly from Rosse Airport, France and arrive in Whitehorse via Vancouver by mid-afternoon.

Day two-
Preparing for the trip; fitting outdoor clothing, allocation of equipment (snow machinens, tents etc)
Take off in the evening by snow machine down Fish Lake to have dinner at the Cabin of the Last Trapper. Spend the night at this location.

Day three-
Depart for Rose Lake, a beautiful day on the trail to become accustomed to snow machine travel.
Spend the night in a prospector’s tent after cutting wood and setting up camp.

Day four-
After several hours on the trail we will make a stop at John’s Lake to ice fish (deliciously cooked on an open fire and Didier cooks a top notch Almond Trout). This is also a great area to possibly view such wild animals as moose, caribou and wolves. We’ll also see some ptarmigan (white grouse) that will fly away from our trails in great flocks.

Day five and six-
We are finally in comfortable travelling routine by this point and are accustomed to the snow machines, traveling toward the Takini Glacier and the Coastal Mountains. At this point we are close to the Alaska border so the scenery changes from mountain lakes to high plateaus and tight valleys. All the natural beauties are united.
A little hint from Didier: Around the campfire ask Rock to tell you a few tales of the great white north.
Along Kusawa, Primrose, Alligator and Takini Lakes the landscapes are breathtaking. Hopefully the gift of northern lights will appear drawing all the natural beauties together.

Day seven-
Our last camp will be at Coal Lake in a camp near a creek that never freezes. This is also an area that wolves frequent to howl melodically. Here Rock will cook his famous bannock, an Indian bread that is cooked in a frying pan over the open fire.

Day eight-
Return to the ranch on the sixth day of your wilderness travels after eating sausages roasted over the open camp fire along the trail. During the evening a little surprise awaits you. (we’re not telling you more than that)

Day nine and ten
Depart from Whitehorse airport and arrive in Paris the next day with a mind full of memories. You are no longer the same person that you were after being touched by the experiences of the great white north.
You also have the opportunity of staying one or two days longer to experience dog team trips with Kyla, Rock’s daughter who is a professional dogmusher. These are easy trips of one or two hours.
