Logistics and Safety

The crew will be made up of seven people maximum, including Didier Langou and Rock Boivin.

Snow Machine Operation
Each member will drive their own snow machine, an Expedition Wide Track, pulling a sled with equipment, food, fuel and personal belongings. Operating a snow machine on most broken trails is relatively straight forward. The difficulty begins when manoevering through certain types of terrain. This is where experienced crew members come to your assistance, if need be.

Cooperation
Alternatively Rock and Didier will be breaking trail. Their experience and knowledge about ice and snow plus their inner compasses help them to find the best way through the mountains. For the group to progress it is important to help one another along the way, more so through the difficult parts of the trail. This creates a real solidarity between the crew members and allows them to laugh at the rigours of the trail.

When Night Comes
In the evening we will erect the prospector tents, cut fire wood and maintain the snow machines. It is often a very pleasant part of the day as the smell of good food pours from the tent and the mood is jovial and relaxed. Most of the journey we will be sleeping in propector tents. These historic tents, equipped with a wood stove, were used by the gold seekers of the Klondike and are well adapted for northern travel. They are spacious enough to accommodate many people and to dry equipment and gear (an essential part of safe and comfortable winter travel.) From time to time we will run into a cabin along the way which will be more than welcome.
