The trip takes 10 to 12 days depending on weather and/or snow conditions

We start from Mayo and travel in the direction of the townsites of Elsa and Keno. This trail is regularly used during the winter time so it is a good time to get used to the snowmachines. We will follow the McQueston River and cross SteamBoat Mountains, where the landscape is fabulous. Then we will manoever up some small rivers towards the Braine Pass where we will encounter some natural hot springs. There we will soak in the 40 degree water while it is –40 degrees outside; a relaxing moment that will be appreciated by all.

The next day we will reach the Wind River that carries its name well. Snow hard packed by the wind will give us a chance to make good time. We will reach the confluence of the Little Wind that was the turning point of the Lost Patrol. From there we will travel towards the Richardson Mountains where a few First Nation people live and will be surprised to see us. It will be a real cultural meeting with people who have lived on the land for years, Elders with a real bush knowledge that can only be found in these northern parts.. We will always be able to try our luck at ice fishing for white fish.

After 80 km across the Richardson Mountains we will fall back onto the Peel River. This large water body wil lead us to the small indian village of Ft. McPherson after a few more days.
